Rocky Horror

This Monday me and my friend Clo are going to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Palace Theatre in Manchester!!!! I cannot contain my self!!!!!

Clo will be going as the adorable Columbia and I shall be the oh so sultry, Magenta.

The costume is bought, fish net stockings fitted, extra long nails painted red and ready to be stuck on, boot heels bought (photo soon, you'll love) make up sorted... now just for the hair!?
I'd love a volume curl but I have no, MUST avoid looking like a Vuitton bunny.. it's just not fitting.

I hear the atmosphere is just as fun as the show itself! I cannot wait, especially to see everyone elses costumes! Will take lots of photos! x

AS Graphics final project: Magazine spread

In my AS last year at college, the last project I found Liselotte Watkins who is an amazing illustration who I seem to come across all the time now!!!! (see bloglovin button) from book covers in the library to canvas messages in Convent Garden! I learnt a lot about her over the time from her blog and in the end created a couple of graphic peices that were greatly influenced.

Vanilla Ice

It's nearly 2am. I'm currently listening to the 13 going on 30 soundtrack on youtube.com and can safely say just moments ago, I learnt the entire thriller dance routine, booya!

I'm very excited to find out who the Shop Girl to Stylist winner is as a school friend's sister is in the final ten! I have everything crossed for her! The winner of the competition gets an actual job at ELLE UK!!!! Plus mentoring by the likes of the wonderful Anne Marie Curtis. My manager told me to apply for the competition, I was like 'ahaha no...' fortunately you had to be 18! even though I would of loved to secretly

Last night I somehow joined models are us LookBook.com and uploaded a very old photograph my friend Erin took eons ago. I never use websites like that because I never get the hype, hits or followers I don't know how they do it. It's piczo all over again.
Other than that I have a huge three hour free at college tomorrow so will probably carry on reading Dracula in the silent study or work on my Graphics YAH

Blogger of the year 2010 entry

Remember last spring, the denim pandemic? Military boots, maxi dresses and trust me, aw10 furry hats. These are pieces guaranteed to be worn by the average shopper. Looking back to the late 90’s frankly makes me cringe. Fortunately, thanks to the lovely likes of style guru Gok Wan, such a sweetie, women and even men now have a better understanding of how to dress themselves with confidence and style. Without being size zero.

Everyone’s fascinated and drawn to diversity whether they admit it or not. However think Cheryl Coles hair, it’s purple. How many kids do you now see with purple hair? Too many! What I want to understand is just because a Celeb icon such as Cheryl dyes her hair such a peculiar colour, does that mean the whole female and possibly male, Cole/X factor fan have to therefore do the same? The high street has so much to offer, it just seems the easier option to buy that pair of cut off’s just because Kate Moss sports them.

When you next spot a fabulous garment, wonder if it reflects your personality or a person you’d like to be; Fashion is about dressing up yet style is your individuality.

Clothes Show 2010

I've been to a couple of clothes shows in Birmingham in the past with school, they were always so cool but at the same time so tiresome. I suppose its the company you keep but there was always one point in the day where we found a spot on the ground to sift through all the freebies we had been given. It was the catwalk show I looked forward to much, and the live performance! I remember the last one I went to in 2009 we all knew we wouldn't have a chance like this again as we were in a last year of school so as the end show was on, music filling the stadium we all jumped up and started to dance! It was such a nice moment, it was the moment I realised sometimes you just have to dance, even if your the only one! Since then there has been many occasions where this has been the case, I don't mind some people are shy or just don't want to dance, but I know they secretly do. I see the way they stare! Then again, that might just be because of my terrible terrible dance moves, think 80's moves with a bit of flapper girl and some Woodstock.

I really want to go this year as the beloved Gok is there, hes such a sweetie! Because of all this UCAS polava theres a Blogger of the year competion, I think I may enter what have I got to loose. I always apply for everything and never win anything haa oops.

Personal Statements

Oh oh oh it's so close now, if you haven't written a personal statement yet DO IT! Try writing two. You put it off because you think 'how hard could it be writing about myself?' but trust me, it is. Don't let this put you off, go on the uni websites, see what they want, talk about you qualities, ambitions, experiences, make it personal. I didn't stick with the UCAS guide to writing a statement as I found the while paragraph by paragraph thing so boring especially for the readers/judges/gods as they've seen it all before!

I kept to what needed to be included but made sure my statements, for art foundation and fashion journalism, flowed nicely so it was an interesting read. I'm still on the drafting stage mind!

youtube

I got fed up with trying to remember what music I like and had to search to listen to. If I wrote them down, I lost the list, guaranteed.

I do use a very good website called: 8tracks.com /sammehxo

however if you don't like a certain track it only allows you to skip up to three tracks per playlist ):

so I made a youtube, it's so handy! youtube.com/yoferrris
(this is duckie i know i know but its my avatar)

hit me up!
I'm on a mission to create the perfect playlists

camel coat

BBC came to my college yesterday to run 'Blast' workshops for art students where I went to two of these, the first being Production Management. A very interesting character names Ken Mair, whom I was totally captivated by, is a Freelance Manager who has worked on soaps such as Coronation Street and has done all of the Cracker series' to name a few, he even worked on Girls in love which I adored! He taught us the hierarchy of media production which was so cool, he was one of those guys that you could listen to for hours because you just know he has so many stories to tell, it was so nice to meet him.
The second workshop was for Studio Lighting for Photography which was great because thats what i'm exploringa at the moment in photography, got a Bowie shoot in the style of Duffy next week ;) I met an ace Photographer called Scott Kershaw who not only had photographed the likes of Pete Doherty but also the Courteeners *faints*
At the end of the workshops I quickly had to run, yes I ran, up two flights of stairs, to tutorial. I felt really ignorant for not thanking Scott for his time but when I was waiting at the bus stop, when college was over, head down on my bberry, a very nice convertible car stops in the middle of the road and pips. My head pops up, good job I'm nosey ;) and there's two guys looking in my direction, of course I've no idea who they were until the driver waves - then the pea clicks, it was only Scott Kershaw! Woop Woop! I quickly beam a smile and shout 'I HAVE ONE OF YOUR POSTCARDS! (of one of his Doherty shots)' however he had to drive off, damn traffic. Felt pretty cool that day, shame no one was there to see......
Overall the BBC Blast workshops were so much fun, I wish more colleges run them!
